Job summary

Dignity Health - Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael, CA seeks a Pharmacy Technician to support safe, accurate medication dispensing under pharmacist supervision. Qualifications

• Certified Pharmacy Technician (PTCB) credential required.
• Registration with the California State Board of Pharmacy as a registered technician.
• One year of acute care hospital pharmacy practice or six-week externship at a Dignity Health Sacramento Division Hospital.
• Or five years of recent Retail Pharmacy experience processing TARs and PAs (within last 3 years).
• Or one year of Pharmacy Managed Care experience (within last 3 years).

Responsibilities

• Prepares IV admixtures accurately using aseptic technique and proper labeling.
• Follows measurement procedures and logs to ensure QA compliance.
• Fills unit dose orders timely and accurately, including extemporaneous compounding.
• Fills Omnicell/floor stock medications accurately and promptly.
• Follows narcotic sign-out and restocking procedures with documentation of discrepancies.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Pharmacy Tech, you'll help our patients feel better by providing safe and effective medications to them. You'll help our doctors and nurses feel better knowing that you are providing accurate and timely medication to patients.

Every day, you will build trust by being extremely thorough and accurate at all times. Patient safety is your top priority, so you do everything you can to ensure all prescriptions are authentic, prepared correctly both in medication type and dosing, and are dispensed appropriately, under the Pharmacist's guidance.

To be successful in this role, you follow all safety protocols, including those intended to prevent infection, and you keep a clean work area at all times. You are eager to learn or help out in any way needed to keep the pharmacy running smoothly and get our patients their medications.

• Prepares IV admixtures accurately using aseptic technique and properly labels, logs and initials final product.
• Measurement procedure: accuracy documented on daily IV shift Quality Assurance log.
• Fills unit dose orders timely and accurately, including extemporaneous compounding.
• Omnicell/floor stock medications are filled accurately and in a timely manner.
• Follows department narcotic sign-out and restocking procedure including investigation and documentation of discrepancies.
• Measured by compliance per year.

Job Requirements

Required

• Certified PharmacyTechnician from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
• Registration with the California State Board of Pharmacy as a registered technician.
• One (1) year of acute care hospital pharmacy practice experience or a six (6) week Pharmacy Technician externship at a Dignity Health Sacramento Division Hospital.
• Or five (5) years of recent Retail Pharmacy experience processing TARs and PAs (within the last three (3) years).
• Or one (1) year of recent experience in PharmacyManaged Care (within the last 3 years).
• Pharmacy Technician: CA.

Preferred

• Completion of an ASHP accreditedPharmacy Technician program.
• Experience working in a USP 797 cleanroom.
• Experience in the preparation of intravenous admixtures and antineoplastic/chemotherapeutic/hazardous medications.
