Job Purpose and Summary

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. You will be the first point of contact for patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, and delivering exceptional customer service. You will operate as part of the pharmacy team, following SOPs, best practices, and effective communication, and contribute to a safe and inclusive culture.

Responsibilities
  • Live our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help our Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
  • Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, providing personalized moments, offering immunizations, and solving or escalating patient problems.
  • Complete basic inventory activities as permitted by law and as directed by pharmacy leadership (e.g., putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting bin inventories).
  • Contribute to a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntary travel to stores in the market.
  • Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with CVS policies on patient safety, controlled substance dispensing, record‑keeping, and privacy.
  • Deliver additional patient health care services, such as immunizations and point‑of‑care testing, where allowed by law and when supported by training.
Immunization Responsibilities (if applicable)
  • Complete additional licensure and training required to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
  • Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer them to the Pharmacist‑on‑duty for vaccination questions.
  • Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions; report events per public health requirements.
  • Review and collect patient information; track and document each applicable patient.
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Comply with state board of pharmacy requirements, including age, education, and licensure/certification. If the board does not specify a minimum age, you must be at least 16 years old. If it does not set a minimum educational requirement, you must have a high school diploma, equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school.
  • State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.

    • Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues.

  • Mathematical Reasoning
    • Use math to solve problems such as determining total tablets, day’s supply, and number of bottles needed to fill a prescription.
  • Problem Resolution
    • Identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and choose the best course of action when faced with multiple options.
  • Physical Demands
    • Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods.
    • Lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead; stretch or reach with arms and legs.
    • Move fingers repetitively; type or work primarily with fingers.
    • Extend hands and arms multiple directions to place, move, or lift items.
    • Control precision; adjust machines to exact positions.
    • Stoop, bend, and lift up to 20 lbs (occasionally) and up to 10 lbs (frequently).
    • Have the ability to convey and receive detailed information orally.
  • Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
  • Ability to work in the Home Store and across the market to meet business needs.

$16.00 – $24.00 per hour. The actual base salary will depend on experience, education, geography, and other factors.
