Job summary

Guardian Pharmacy of Maine is seeking a detail-focused Pharmacy Technician to enter and process prescriptions in a fast-paced, closed-door pharmacy environment in Brunswick, ME. You will support data entry, inventory, and fulfillment while collaborating with a cross-trained team to ensure timely service.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in a similar role, pharmacy tech certification, and strong computer skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; pharmacy tech license preferred
  • Pharmacy tech certification and/or national certification (PTCB) preferred
  • Experience with pharmacy systems and data entry is advantageous
  • Ability to communicate clearly with patients and team members
  • Accurate, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced setting

Responsibilities

  • Enter and process prescriptions with speed and accuracy
  • Triage incoming fax prescriptions for timely dispensing
  • Maintain proper notes and cycle fill coding in the system
  • Verify correct dosage based on prescriptions
  • Provide courteous phone support and route calls appropriately
  • Complete prescribed orders within regular shifts and deadlines
  • Assist with filing, inventory, and packaging as needed
  • Maintain data entry records for cycles and renewals
  • Learn and use multiple pharmacy systems as required
  • Support cross-training across fulfillment and pre-pack operations

The role offers the opportunity to work across a variety of functions within a closed-door pharmacy environment, with a primary focus on data entry, inventory management, and fulfillment. This setting provides the benefit of a streamlined and focused workflow, allowing team members to concentrate on specific lines of business (LOBs) with minimal distractions. A dedicated billing team handles all billing responsibilities, enabling pharmacy staff to remain focused on their core operational duties. In addition, employees are cross-trained in multiple areas, including fulfillment, data entry, and pre-pack operations, supporting both flexibility and professional development. Overall, the position fosters a supportive and collaborative work environment where team members are encouraged to build their skills and contribute across various aspects of the pharmacy.

Salary ranges from $18 - $22 per hour
Hours Of Operation
Monday - Friday
6 am - start time
8 am - start time
9 am - start time
  • could work and fill in during one of these start times
Saturday & Sunday rotation 9 - 5

Responsible for entering and processing prescriptions into the pharmacy operating system with both speed and accuracy. Communicates with customers on the telephone and responds quickly and courteously to their needs.

Essential Job Functions (include The Following)
  • Enter new and refill prescriptions into operating system in accurate and timely manner to eliminate errors at dispensing
  • Triage incoming fax prescriptions to ensure timely dispensing
  • Ensure proper notes in computer and cycle fill coding
  • Calculate and/or verify the correct dosage based on the prescription
  • Demonstrate caring, understanding and courtesy when responding to calls from customers. Route calls as appropriate to ensure top level service
  • Ensure all prescriptions assigned for processing are completed in regular shift
  • Receive, evaluate, process and follow-up as needed with doctors’ offices on all refills assigned
  • Develop proficiency in the utilization of all pharmacy systems (ie document imaging, legacy pharmacy computer operating system)
  • On an as needed, may assist with filing of completed orders, packaging of medications, inventory, profiling of orders for medical records, and filling processed prescriptions to dispense to the patient
  • Develop and learn cycle in order to meet delivery deadlines. Maintain data entry records for cycle medication, fill requests and process cycle medication orders needing renewal in addition to new cycle orders as applicable
  • Other essential functions and duties may be assigned as needed
Education and/or Certifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (per state requirements)
  • Pharmacy Technician license/certification/registration (per state requirements); National Certification preferred (PTCB)
Skills And Qualifications
  • 2+ years of related experience (advanced degree may substitute for experience)
  • Advanced computer skills; pharmacy operations system experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently and deliver to deadlines
  • Ability to solve problems with minimal direction
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment working on multiple tasks simultaneously, while adhering to strict deadlines
  • Quality minded; motivated to seek out errors and inquire when something appears inaccurate
