Job summary

Tanner Health System seeks an experienced Pharmacy Technician Supervisor to assist with daily pharmacy technician operations and to provide leadership in automation and controlled substance inventory across the health system.

The role includes supervising level technicians, coordinating purchasing and dispensing cabinet management, and ensuring quality pharmaceutical care in a high-volume setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six years of related experience.
• Advanced knowledge in highly specialized systems and procedures.
• Must meet Pharmacy Technician ladder policy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the daily pharmacy technician requirements and supervision.
• Lead and train staff on pharmacy automation and controlled substance inventory.
• Manage ordering, receiving, transferring, and automated dispensing cabinets.
• Oversee sterile compounding and controlled substances management.
• Support pharmacists and the department team across the health system.

Job description

This position will assist in the management of the daily pharmacy technician requirements of the Pharmacy Department. They will assist with and provide leadership and training with pharmacy automation and controlled substance inventory issues including, but not limited to: ordering, receiving, transferring, automated dispensing cabinet management, sterile compounding, and controlled substances management. This employee will assist pharmacists and the pharmacy department team with providing medication services and pharmaceutical care to patients and other departments through-out the health system.

Required Knowledge & Skills

• Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Experience: Six years of related experience. Requires advanced knowledge in highly specialized systems and procedures.

Licenses and Certifications

• GEORGIA REGISTERED PHARMACY TECH
• CERTIFIED PHARMACY TECHNICIAN

Supervision

Regularly uses the assistance and supervises level I, II, III, and IV technicians to monitor performance, ensure accurate completion of assigned tasks, and provide correction when necessary. Must work closely with peers and supervisors as an efficient team member to promote optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Must meet all the requirements as outlined in the Pharmacy Technician Clinical Ladder policy and procedure.
• Must exhibit leadership skills of being a good listener, being a good communicator, have the ability to make sound decisions, and being a good problem solver.
• Adapts positively to changes in workload and or work schedule.
• Experience or training in materials inventory management is preferred.
• Ability to work well in high volume, high stress situations.
• Ability to pass a basic written and practical competency examination. Must have a solid, working knowledge of medications: brand and generic names, dosage forms, common dosages, and common uses.
• Ability to interact and work well as part of a team oriented environment.
