Job summary

Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals Broken Arrow is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to work under the supervision of the Manager/Director of Pharmacy or Registered Pharmacist. The role involves dispensing IV additives, preparing IV solutions aseptically, labeling, and filing charge slips while supporting daily medication operations.

Responsibilities include assisting pharmacists, preparing and dispensing medications, processing records, restocking inventories, and maintaining IV refrigeration logs.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital setting preferred.
  • State certification/licensure if required by state.
  • Basic computer skills for processing prescription orders.
  • Fluent reading, writing and speaking English.

  • Generates required reports; picks i.v., production reports. Performs backup procedures correctly.
  • Dates times and initials all vials for reuse.
  • Receives and stores incoming supplies.
  • Counts stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records.

Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals Broken Arrow, located on the 3rd floor of Ascension St. John is a long‑term acute care (LTAC) hospital specializing in the treatment of patients recovering from post‑intensive care and medically complex conditions. Our hospital provides both intensive care and telemetry‑level services, offering advanced monitoring and support for patients requiring extended medical care. With a multidisciplinary team dedicated to personalized treatment plans, we focus on helping patients achieve significant recovery and transition to the next level of care.

Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician, under the direct supervision of the (Market) Manager/Director of Pharmacy or Registered Pharmacist, dispenses additives for IV and irrigating solutions, mixes IV additive solutions as required using aseptic technique with a laminar airflow hood, types labels, prepares and files charge slips, and performs other related duties.

Essential Functions
  • Assists Pharmacist to prepare and dispense medication.
  • Mixes pharmaceutical preparations, fills bottles with prescribed tablets and capsules, and prepares labels for bottles.
  • Fills orders with correct medications. Prepares unit of use dosage when possible.
  • Processes records of medication and equipment dispensed to patient, computes charges, and enters data in computer.
  • Prepares intravenous (IV) packs.
  • Generates required reports; picks i.v., production reports. Performs backup procedures correctly.
  • Recycles product as appropriate. Changes prep and expiration date on recycled product.
  • Dates times and initials all vials for reuse.
  • Prioritizes work (i.e. stats made first). Delivers IVS to proper locations. Restocks shelves and rotates stock. Properly disposes of non‑recyclable solutions. Maintains i.v. refrigerator temperature log.
  • Receives and stores incoming supplies.
  • Counts stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records.
  • Returns medications to stock and rotates stock. Fills requisitions from Nursing floors in a timely fashion. Can calculate appropriate medication doses based on patient's age Adult and Geriatrics.
  • Cleans equipment and sterilizes glassware according to prescribed methods.
