Food City is seeking a pharmacy support intern to assist in customer service, prescription entry, and insurance claim preparation. The role involves handling phone inquiries, receiving prescriptions, data entry, stocking OTC items, and operating the register in a busy store pharmacy environment.

Ideal candidates are organized, reliable, and eager to learn all aspects of pharmacy operations. This entry-level position offers exposure to daily retail pharmacy duties and interaction with customers

Qualifications

• Customer service oriented duties and courteous interaction with customers.
• Ability to handle telephone inquiries not requiring pharmacist input.
• Basic data collection to prepare prescriptions and enter data.

Essential Job Functions:

• Provide and promote efficient and courteous service to customers at all times.


• Answer telephone and handle questions that do not require a pharmacist’s expertise or judgment.


• Receive written prescriptions or telephone refill requests.


• Gather information needed to prepare prescriptions.


• Record information needed before prescriptions can be dispensed.


• Store written prescriptions forms after prescriptions are dispensed.


• Enter data into computer.


• Stock over the counter products.


• Place completed prescriptions in pick-up area.


• Assist in preparing insurance claims and verify payments.


• Help customers find over-the-counter products.


• Maintain a clean department and work area.


• Assist in maintaining and stocking pharmacy department supplies.


• Additional job duties may be assigned as needed.


• Operate cash register.
