Job summary

Meijer Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Intern to support everyday operations, assist customers, and process prescriptions. You will work closely with licensed pharmacists to deliver patient-centered care, perform MTM tasks where allowed, and help manage inventory and third-party billing.

The role requires enrollment in a pharmacy program and an intern license, plus strong communication and organizational skills to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service and handle phone inquiries.
• Assist patients with product selection and obtain medication prices.
• Process and fill prescriptions.
• Use pharmacy computer system for data entry and third party adjudication; count and label prescriptions; accept new prescriptions at Will Call.
• Perform third-party functions.
• Manage inventory and update balance on hand; place orders; look up Meijer codes; receive and store orders.
• Process vendor chargebacks, transfers, and salvage.
• Provide clinical services under pharmacist supervision; conduct health screenings and immunizations where authorized.

The person selected for this position will be responsible for having basic pharmacy knowledge to provide customer service, to process and fill prescriptions, to provide third party functions, to manage inventory, and to provide clinical services.

What You'll be Doing:

• Customer service.
• Communicating with patients in person and via telephone; assisting patients with product selection; obtaining medication prices (internally and from competitors) pursuant to patient requests.
• Processing and filling prescriptions.
• Using pharmacy computer system for prescription data entry & third party adjudication; pulling correct products from the shelf; counting and labeling prescriptions appropriately at fill station; receiving new prescriptions from patients, selling prescriptions to patients at the Will Call station.
• Third-party functions.
• Inventory management.
• Updating balance on hand (BOH); product ordering; looking up Meijer codes; checking-in and putting away orders; processing vendor charge backs (VCBs)/transfers/salvage.
• Clinical services.

This pay range represents the minimum and maximum base pay for the position, which is determined by factors such as market data, the qualifications required, the level of responsibilities associated with the role and other roles at this same level. Your specific pay rate within this range will be based on your experience, qualifications, and skills compared to the internal team you'll be joining.
