Job summary

UKG is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist the Pharmacist and Pharmacy Manager in serving customers and maintaining the Pharmacy Department. The role requires state- and federal-compliant performance of duties and adherence to corporate policies.

Responsibilities include prescription data entry, insurance billing, inventory management, and labeling, with opportunities for professional development and training within Chesapeake Regional Healthcare.

Qualifications

• Must be certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or obtain certification within 6 months of hire date.
• Successful completion of a pharmacy technician program preferred.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience.
• Registered with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Complete Chesapeake Regional Healthcare training modules for Pharmacy Technician.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers and maintain the Pharmacy Department.
• Enter prescriptions, including insurance billing and basic problem resolution.
• Accept patient and prescription information for processing.
• Retrieve medications and label prescriptions as permitted by state law.
• Assist in inventory management and restocking.
• Reconstitute oral liquids where permitted by state law.
• Attend required orientations, meetings and in-services.
• Support flexible scheduling to ensure patient care.
• Report to Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacists.

• Pay or shift range: $19 USD to $29 USD
  The estimated salary range is provided in accordance with Virginia Pay Transparency requirements. Final salary offers are calculated based on job-related factors, including education, experience, location, shift, skills, specialties, and/or other relevant qualifications or criteria.

Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Pharmacist and Pharmacy Manager with serving customers and maintaining the Pharmacy Department. The Pharmacy Technician is required to perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws.

The duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other tasks may be assigned.

Perform all functions and duties of a Pharmacy Technician to ensure prompt service in the Pharmacy Department.

Perform computer entry of prescription information including, but not limited to: patient search, prescriber search, drug selection, prescription interpretation and entry, insurance billing, and basic problem resolution.

Accept customer and prescription information required to process new and refill prescriptions, including refill authorizations from doctor offices where permitted by state law.

Retrieve the appropriate medication from inventory where permitted by state law.

Create prescription labels and place them on prescription containers where permitted by state law.

Assist with maintaining the Pharmacy Department by keeping it clean and in order.

Assist in inventory management processes including order review, inventory returns, restocking shelves, and physical inventory preparation.

Reconstitute oral liquids where permitted by state law.

Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services.

Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care.

Complete new tasks as assigned.

Reports to: Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacists

Minimum Required Education: Must be certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or obtain certification within 6 months of hire date, and provide documentation that certification is completed within the required time frame.

Experience: Minimum 2+ years of experience required.

Applicant must be registered with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.

Complete all Chesapeake Regional Healthcare training modules relative to a Pharmacy Technician.
