HCA Healthcare, Inc. is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for the Free Standing Emergency Department (FSED) in the San Antonio area.

The role involves managing pharmacy and supply operations, receiving and distributing medications, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring regulatory compliance under the Pharmacist in Charge. You will work with PIC and the Director of Pharmacy, participate in audits, and support cost-effective initiatives across HealthTrust Supply Chain.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• State registration as Pharmacy Technician (CpHT) required.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or NHA certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Pharmacist-in-Charge with regulatory compliance and quality reviews.
• Deliver and stock medications and supplies promptly and accurately.
• Enter receiving data into SMART system for expedited deliveries and cross-docked items.
• Monitor Min/Max storeroom levels and place orders as needed to maintain safety stock.
• Load medications into Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADC) and check expiration data.
• Maintain records for refrigerated medications and assist with kits, trays, and stock counts.

Job Summary and Qualifications

This is a market-wide role that supports the Free Standing Emergency Departments for San Antonio Healthtrust Supply Chain and Methodist Healthcare system. Commute throughout these facilities is required. Mileage reimbursement available for 0.72 per mile based on the 2026 mileage reimbursement rate policy.

The Free Standing Emergency Department (FSED) Pharmacy and Supply Technician is responsible for managing the pharmacy and supply operations to ensure safe and effective medication and supplies availability, distribution, storage, security and control. Responsibilities also include receiving, ordering, promptly distributing all medication and supplies within the facility, reviewing and maintaining all Min/Max levels for storeroom safety stock as well as all other stocking locations including automated dispensing cabinets. The technician will also follow and enforce policies and procedures, quality assurance and regulatory compliance in conjunction with the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) and/or Consultant Pharmacist of record. The FSED Pharmacy and Supply Technician fulfills departmental responsibilities within the long-range plan, mission, vision and values of the hospital, comply with all regulatory standards and work with the Director of Pharmacy to identify and develop processes to meet or exceed all regulatory standards.

• Work with or under supervision of the Pharmacist-In-Charge (PIC) to identify and develop processes to meet or exceed all regulatory standards. Participate in quality and regulatory reviews and audits.
• Deliver and stocks medication and supplies in an accurate and timely manner
• Is authorized to transport and deliver legend drugs, non-prescription drugs, contrast media and drug containing devices relative to core competencies of the position
• Place safety stock in proper location
• Receive expedited deliveries, accurately key receiving into the SMART system, and deliver to appropriate department(s), Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADC)
• Receive all cross-docked items into the SMART system as appropriate
• Review Min/Max for storeroom and Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADC) safety stock daily and place orders appropriately
• When loading medications in Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADC) and putting up supplies, check for outdates and enter the soonest to expire data of medication currently in the pocket
• Maintain record of refrigerated medications manually or by using an electronic medication monitoring system
• Refill and checking of kits, trays, and boxes
• Count par level areas (POU areas) weekly according to schedule
