Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Checks pharmacy stock to maintain proper levels, stock rotated, and proper storage conditions.
  • Pre-packaging of pharmaceutical into appropriate containers under supervision.
  • Assists pharmacist in filling and refilling of patient medications by operating the computer system.
  • Assists pharmacist in refilling and maintaining robotic and automated dispensing unit medication stock.
  • Assist in proper documentation of pharmacy actions into patient medical record.
  • Assists pharmacist in checking and stocking supplies received; stock rotated as stored.
  • Responsible for keeping the Pharmacy area neat and orderly.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Performs other duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education - High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience - None Required

Licenses & Certification - Incumbent must possess a valid Pharmacy Technician Permit issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy, or complete required training, exam, and permit application process required by the State Board of Pharmacy within 120 days of employment.

Knowledge & Skills -

  1. Knowledge of pharmaceutical and medical nomenclature.
  2. Ability to utilize a personal computer and its applications in a Windows environment.
  3. Skills in organizing and maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  4. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  5. Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with clinic staff, patients and the general public.
  6. Ability to meet and deal with the public for the purpose of supplying or obtaining information.
  7. Ability to maintain a confident, professional demeanor.
JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of the position is to provide support and assistance to the pharmacist in the daily operation of the Pharmacy.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a clinical environment. There is common exposure to infectious communicable disease, potentially hazardous chemicals and biohazardous materials. Appropriate measures must be taken for protection against infection and radiation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work requires standing for long periods and working about the work unit. Work also requires regular and recurring bending, lifting, and stretching.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Satisfactory job performance will be determined by successful execution of the following:

  1. Checks pharmacy stock to see that proper levels are maintained, stock rotated, and proper storage conditions are present. Should be able to detect and refer to supervisor any unusual conditions in the above.
  2. Performs pre-packaging of pharmaceutical into appropriate containers under the supervision of the clinic pharmacist.
  3. Assists pharmacist in filling and refilling of patient medications by operating the computer system and performing miscellaneous functions as requested.
  4. Assists pharmacist in refilling and maintaining robotic and automated dispensing unit medication stock.
  5. Assist in proper documentation of pharmacy actions into patient medical record.
  6. Assists pharmacist in checking and stocking supplies received. Checks to see that amount received is equal to the amount ordered; sees that stock is rotated as it is stored.
  7. Responsible for keeping the Pharmacy area neat and orderly.
  8. Regular attendance is required.
  9. Performs other duties as required.
