Job summary

Cullman Regional Medical Center is seeking a pharmacy technician to assist pharmacists in dispensing medications, manage automated dispensing machines, and maintain a clean, properly stocked pharmacy. The role requires strong reading/writing skills, basic math, and good communication with staff and patients.

Ideal candidates have six months of pharmacy experience with IV admixture exposure and Alabama Board of Pharmacy registration.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a formal technician training program preferred.
• Must be registered with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician.
• Six months of continuous pharmacy experience with IV admixture experience.
• Ability to read, write, perform calculations; good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacist in pre-packaging, labeling and dispensing medications.
• Refill, load and troubleshoot basic problems for automated dispensing machines.
• Maintain cleanliness of the pharmacy and remove out-of-date medications.
• Answer telephone calls promptly and courteously, assisting non-clinical questions.
• Assist in any area of the pharmacy as workload requires.
• Maintain inventory levels and assist in ordering and restocking medications and supplies.
• Demonstrate proficiency in computer systems utilized in pharmacy.
• Demonstrate and encourage team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences.
• Uphold and promote patient safety and quality.

Additional Skills/Abilities

Must have the ability to read, to write, to prepare and to interpret written instructions and to make mathematical calculations. Must have good communication skills and be able to maintain good interpersonal relationships with staff members. Computer skills and the use of pharmacy software are preferred.
