Job summary

Tenet Healthcare is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for a per diem, rotating-shift role in Port Saint Lucie, FL. The technician will assist a licensed pharmacist in dispensing functions, manage purchasing and inventory, and handle sterile product preparation and IV admixtures for all patient populations, under supervision.

Responsibilities include labeling orders, stocking ADCs, preparing IV admixtures, responding to STAT and routine orders, and delivering medications to patient care areas.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician license is required.
• CPhT certification through PTCB is preferred.
• Accredited training in sterile products preparation and IV admixture is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fill and label medication orders with correct strength, dosage form, and quantity.
• Stock automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) promptly.
• Prepare and label complex IV admixtures (e.g., chemotherapy) per policy.
• Maintain records for extemporaneous preparations and IV admixtures.
• Deliver medications to patient care areas and respond to medication requests.
• Ensure all medications are checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing.
• Maintain adequate medication stock levels and proper storage.
• Assist with purchasing, inventory control, and ADC stock management.

IV Admixture Certification

Job Type: Per Diem

The individual in this position acts under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and provides assistance in dispensing functions, including: purchasing, inventory control of all drug classes, sterile product preparation and associated equipment maintenance, and automated dispensing cabinet equipment and inventory maintenance. Also performs technical duties to maintain pharmaceutical dispensing functions to all neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including inpatients and outpatients.

This individual's responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Accurately fill and label medication orders with correct strength, dosage form, and quantity in a timely manner.
• Accurately stock automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) in a timely manner.
• Fill/refill emergency crash carts, boxes, and kits timely and accurately.
• Re-package and label oral medications/extemporaneous preparations and maintain appropriate records.
• Respond appropriately to requests for STAT orders, routine orders, department requests, and ADC stock out bulletins.
• Assure all medications are checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing.
• Stock medications into pharmacy inventory, including sterile compounding areas.
• Maintain adequate medication stock levels and proper storage of medications.
• Deliver medications to patient care areas.
• Attend to medication requests and phone calls.
• Prepare complex IV admixtures (i.e., chemotherapy, biotherapy) accurately, consistent with IV policies and procedures (USP and USP ).
• Comply with state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission standards and Tenet and hospital policies and procedures.
• Assist in performing various duties as assigned.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Experience

• Preferred: 2 years of hospital experience

License

• (required) Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician

Certification

• (perfered) Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through PTCB. Accredited training in sterile products preparation and IV Admixture Certification
