Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) is seeking a Pharmacy Technician responsible for preparing, distributing, and controlling medications under pharmacist supervision. This role requires strong attention to detail and adherence to pharmacy policies.
Preferred qualifications include a California Pharmacy Technician License, knowledge of pharmacy dispensing systems, and at least 1 year of experience. This is an opportunity to contribute toward effective pharmacy resource use in a hospital environment.
5 days per week; 8hr shifts, Mon - Fri and every other weekend.
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for the preparation, distribution, control of sterile and non-sterile oral and injectable medications under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist and participation in Division programs. There must be a final pharmacist check of all technician work involved in the preparation and/or dispensing of medications. Works toward effective, efficient use of all pharmacy resources. Employee will follow applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment. Other responsibilities include filling automated dispensing cabinets in patient care areas, checking for expired medications, and maintaining pharmacy inventory.
1+ year related experience preferred. Knowledge and application of basic math skills including ratios and proportions. Knowledge of various Pharmacy dispensing systems and equipment. Minimum typing skills of 30 wpm with knowledge of various computer applications and systems.
California Pharmacy Technician License, CPhT required. Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician School or Advanced Degree preferred. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) preferred.
