Job Description Summary

The Pharmacy Supervisor is a licensed professional responsible for providing safe and appropriate pharmacy services to Option Care patients in accordance with company policies, pharmacy practice standards, and regulatory requirements. The role coordinates patient services with nursing, delivery, and reimbursement departments and oversees the purchasing, control, and security of all drug products and medical supplies.

Responsibilities
  • Delivers and manages appropriate patient care.
  • Determines suitability of patients for home care and assesses patients' suitability in accordance with company policies.
  • Directs daily activities of the pharmacy department to prioritize pharmaceutical care delivery.
  • Arranges work activities so that patients' pharmaceutical‑care needs are met.
  • Oversees state and federal regulatory requirements for an alternate‑site pharmacy; may act as pharmacist in charge per state regulation.
  • Assists the director of pharmacy with ensuring all state and federal philaphy and controlled‑substance licensure requirements are current.
  • Ensures all staff is trained to use computers and admixture devices, and observes confidentiality and ethical guidelines.
  • Provides support to sales professionals and the general manager by speaking knowledgeably about available services.
  • Meets with managed care organizations and other accounts to facilitate education regarding available services.
  • Oversees the purchase, management, and security of all medications, pumps, and medical supplies in accordance with company policies and formulary guidelines.
  • Designs, recommends, monitors, and evaluates patient‑specific pharmacy care plans for home‑care patients.
  • Modifies pharmacy care plans based on monitoring data and other pertinent patient information.
  • Uses pharmacokinetic principles and formulas and assesses patient laboratory values.
  • Ensures medications are prepared and dispensed using appropriate techniques and following company policies and procedures; equipment is accurately calibrated.
  • Provides in‑service education to physicians, nurses, pharmacy technicians, and other practitioners on home‑care pharmacy issues.
  • Designs effective educational programs for practitioners on home‑care pharmacy‑related issues.
  • Manages pharmacy staff, prioritizes workload, and organizes workflow in accordance with available resources.
  • Coordinates and participates in on‑call responsibilities of the pharmacy department.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Yes: hiring, recommending/approving promotions and pay increases, scheduling, performance reviews, discipline, etc.

Basic Education and Experience Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Current, active Pharmacy license granted by the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a clean‑room or infusion pharmacy setting, or 2 years of experience with one of the following:
    • Knowledge of non‑sterile compounding and MTM.
    • Completion of an ASHP accredited Pharmacy Residency Program.
    • Equivalent experience approved by the VP of Pharmacy or SVP of Clinical Services.
  • Reliable transportation and, if using a personal vehicle, a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Strong time‑management, customer‑service, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills.
Preferred Qualifications and Interests
  • Post‑graduate program in clinical pharmacy service.
  • Certification in Nutrition Support Pharmacy, Pharmacotherapy, or another clinical pharmacy practice area.
  • At least 1 year of experience managing inventory and logistics.
  • Active member of a state or national professional organization.
  • At least 3 years of experience compounding sterile products and managing complex infusion patients.
  • At least 1 year of experience overseeing purchasing and inventory processes for pharmaceutical supplies.
Travel Requirements

Willing to travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes (within and outside the state).

Salary Range

$103,504.79 – $172,507.98
