Job summary

Providence St. Vincent Medical Center and Providence Seaside Hospital are seeking a Pharmacy Program Manager—Medication Safety and Compliance to lead medication-safety initiatives across two Providence facilities in Portland and Seaside, Oregon.

This full-time role focuses on system-design based error prevention and policy development to safeguard patients. You will coordinate safety activities, review medication-related events, monitor national alerts, and ensure compliance with accreditation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or PharmD required.
  • Oregon Pharmacist license required upon hire.
  • Minimum 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience.

Job description

Pharmacy Program Manager - Medication Safety and Compliance at Providence St Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR. and Providence Seaside Hospital in Seaside, OR.
Full-Time/Day Shift

The Program Manager, Medication Safety coordinates all medication safety activities within the organization and works collaboratively to develop and implement interdisciplinary error-prevention strategies that focus on system design to effectively reduce the risk of medication errors. Reviews medication-related safety event and adverse drug reaction reports to identify potential system improvements and educational needs. Proactively monitors external sources (e.g., Institute for Safety Medication Practices Safety Alerts and Joint Commission Sentinel Event Alerts) to identify nationally recognized medication safety best practices for evaluation and implementation. Ensures compliance with medication management standards and patient safety goals identified by accreditation and regulatory bodies including, but not limited to, The Joint Commission (TJC), Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS), and applicable state boards (e.g., pharmacy, nursing, public health). Oversees the development of new or revision of existing medication management policies and procedures. Serves as a subject matter expert and education resource on safe medication practices.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree:Graduate from an accredited College of Pharmacy or
    • Master's DegreeinPharmacy or
    • PharmDinPharmacy.
  • Upon hire: Oregon Pharmacist License.
  • 3 yearsHospital pharmacy experience or equivalent residency experience.
