Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a Pharmacy Intern to support pharmacists in delivering safe and effective patient care. You will counsel patients, process prescriptions, and assist with insurance and OTC recommendations in a fast-paced retail pharmacy environment.

The role requires enrollment in a US School of Pharmacy and possession of a current Pharmacy Intern license, with on-site duties in a Kroger pharmacy location.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in a US school of pharmacy.
• Holds a current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products.
• Gain knowledge of pharmaceutical products and discuss them with customers and prescribers.
• Provide drug counseling to customers.
• Assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
• Input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system accurately.
• Dispense the correct medication.
• Contact prescribers’ offices for authorization.
• Bag prescriptions and deliver to customers accurately.
• Process third-party insurance information for customers.
• Contact insurance companies on the customers’ behalf if necessary.
• Facilitate charge purchases for customers.
• Interpret and accept prescriptions for fill/refill.
• Clean the department.
• Provide immunizations under pharmacist supervision.
• Compare and check incoming orders.
• Stock incoming orders properly.
• Return unused medication stock bottles to stock.
• Notify management of accidents or safety concerns.
• Inform the on-duty pharmacist of prescription incidents.
• Report safety risks, thefts, or fraud.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflicts in a calm, cooperative manner.
• Maintain honesty and integrity with customer and business information.
