Job summary

King Soopers in Colorado is seeking a Pharmacy Intern to support pharmacists in dispensing medications, counseling customers, and processing prescriptions. You will assist with over-the-counter recommendations, immunizations under supervision, and maintain accurate prescription data in the system.

The role requires active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy and possession of a valid Pharmacy Intern license; part-time opportunities are available, with comprehensive benefits and growth potential

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in a US school of pharmacy.
• Pharmacy Intern license issued by the state.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products.
• Provide drug counseling to customers and discuss pharmaceutical products with customers and prescribers.
• Assist with over the counter medication recommendations and input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy system.
• Dispense medications, contact prescribers for authorization, and process third party insurance information.
• Bag prescriptions, ensure accurate delivery to customers, and manage stock and incoming orders.
• Provide immunizations under the supervision of the pharmacist and assist with safety reporting and incident communication.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of pharmaceutical products and be able to competently discuss these products with customers and prescribers.
• Provide drug counseling to customers.
• Assist with over the counter medications recommendations.
• Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system.
• Dispense the correct medication.
• Contact prescribers’ offices for authorization.
• Bag filled prescriptions and deliver to customer accurately.
• Process third party insurance information for customers.
• Contact insurance companies on behalf of the customers, if necessary
• Facilitate charge purchases for customers.
• Accept and interpret oral and written prescriptions accurately for fill/refill.
• Clean the department.
• Provide immunizations under the supervision of the pharmacist
• Compare and check incoming orders.
• Stock incoming orders properly.
• Return unused medication stock bottles to stock.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Notify pharmacist on duty if they are made aware of a prescription incident.
• Report all safety risk, or issues, and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud.
• Ability to work cooperatively in high paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
• Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
