Job summary

JobRx, Inc. is seeking a PRN Pharmacist for the Mid-Atlantic Tribal Health Center in Virginia. This is an independent contractor role offering $75–85 per hour based on contract terms, with flexible PRN scheduling Monday through Friday.

Job description

PRN Pharmacist

Mid-Atlantic Tribal Health Center (MATHC), Charles City, VA

Role: PRN / As-Needed (Independent Contractor – 1099)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM (PRN basis as scheduled by Clinical Director)

Pay: $75–85 per hour, 1099 independent contractor rate. Hours not expected to exceed 80 hours per contract year.

Federal contract: IHS Contract – Base Year + 4 option periods.

Responsibilities

• Perform prescription medication order entry and dispensing upon pharmacy opening, using both automation and manual fill techniques.
• Maintain accurate medication profiles for all patients; assist providers with prescription renewals and Medication Therapy Management (MTM).
• Investigate and complete medication error reports; assign, prioritize, and evaluate work per pharmacy policies and procedures.
• Apply knowledge of current federal and state regulatory requirements for medication order processing.
• Provide drug information and patient education to providers, patients, and clinical staff.
• Maintain accurate patient records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR/RPMS).
• Attend dental, medical staff, or clinic meetings as requested.
• Comply with all MATHC policies, IHS standards, infection control protocols, and applicable federal regulations.

Qualifications

• Degree: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an ACPE-accredited program or other recognized institution.
• License: Current, full, and unrestricted pharmacist license in any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory – maintained active throughout contract term.
• Experience: Minimum 12 months of outpatient pharmacy experience within the last five years.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – current.
• Malpractice insurance: Minimum $1,000,000 per occurrence / $3,000,000 aggregate professional liability coverage.
• Background check: Must complete IHS CNACI/eQIP background investigation and fingerprinting prior to first shift.
• Immunizations: Must meet all IHS federal vaccine/immunization requirements (MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Influenza, Tdap, TB test within 12 months, Annual N95 Fit Test).
• System for Award Management: Must be registered or willing to register.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with IHS, VA, FQHC, or tribal health clinic pharmacy operations.
• Familiarity with RPMS or similar federal EHR platforms.
• Experience with Medication Therapy Management (MTM) programs.

Federal Compliance

• IHS security clearance and suitability determination required prior to start.
• Complete IHS orientation including Cultural Sensitivity, RPMS/EHR, PRC, and Customer Service training (paid at regular rate).
• Required federal trainings within 30 days of start: HIPAA/Privacy, Cybersecurity Awareness, IHS Patient Safety, Trauma–Informed Care, Ethics, I-STAR, Emergency Preparedness, and others per IHM Circular 19–30.
• Manage all patient information in accordance with HIPAA, Privacy Act, and IHS policy.
• Subject to IHS Standards of Conduct and Anti–Harassment Policy.
• Medical records must be completed at time of departure; clearance by HIMS required before final invoice is processed.
