Job Summary
Provides empathetic pharmacy consulting services to patients regarding the effective use of medications and drug interaction awareness. Offers preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcome services. Ensures prescribed medications are compounded, reviewed, dispensed, and verified accurately according to regulatory guidelines and company policies and procedures. Manages an efficient pharmacy workflow, improves pharmacy financials, manages inventory effectively, and enhances patient experience. Manages pharmacy staff performance and engagement. Ensures the professional development of pharmacy staff through training, coaching, and performance management initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
Patient Experience
- Engages patients by greeting them, offering assistance, resolving issues, and answering questions to ensure a positive experience.
- Models customer service best practices, demonstrating care and Walgreens service traits.
- Connects with patients by anticipating needs, offering services, and promoting healthcare offerings.
- Participates in community events as requested.
Operations
- Counsels patients on medication use, side effects, interactions, and privacy.
- Performs tasks including compounding, drug reviews, verification, and medication management.
- Reviews and dispenses medications accurately.
- Ensures compliance with regulations and policies, manages workflow, and oversees staff scheduling.
- Uses Good Faith Dispensing principles and collaborates on strategic opportunities.
- Maintains pharmacy technology systems and supports staff and patients with IT.
- Processes insurance claims, resolves issues, and follows up with providers.
- Performs clinical services like immunizations and testing.
- Partners with support for patient registration and virtual services.
- Maintains pharmacy facilities and submits required documentation.
People & Performance Management
- Collaborates on hiring, discipline, and compliance.
- Sets expectations, promotes teamwork, and manages staff performance and development.
- Identifies high potential staff and manages career progression.
- Addresses employee relations and maintains morale.
Training & Personal Development
- Maintains necessary licensing and certifications.

- Builds relationships with healthcare providers and promotes pharmacy services in the community.
Basic Qualifications
- BS in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited institution.
- Current pharmacist licensure in relevant states.
- Certified Immunizer or willingness to become one within 90 days.
- At least 1 year of pharmacy experience including prescription filling, legal compliance, and pharmacy systems.
- Experience with prescription dispensing and controlled substance laws.
- Good performance review ratings and no recent disciplinary actions (internal candidates).
