This is a rare opportunity to lead a brand‑new NuvemRx pharmacy embedded within a community health center in Galena, IL, a charming, historic town in the heart of northwest Illinois. You won’t be stepping into a pre‑built routine; you’ll be building something meaningful from the ground up.
As Pharmacist‑in‑Charge and Pharmacy Manager, you will serve as the clinical and operational leader of this site, partnering directly with health center providers, managing day‑to‑day pharmacy operations, and serving as a trusted member of the patient care team. You’ll have the autonomy to shape the patient experience and grow the pharmacy’s impact within the community. This role reports to NuvemRx Pharmacy leadership and works in close partnership with our health center client and its clinical staff.
Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM (closed for lunch 12:30–1:00 PM). No nights. No weekends. Closed most federal holidays. On‑site parking available.
Galena isn’t just a place to work, it’s a place to actually live. Nestled in the rolling hills of northwest Illinois along the Galena River, it’s one of the most distinctive and beloved small towns in the Midwest. Here’s what makes it worth the move:
Serve as a clinical resource and trusted partner to health center providers, offering drug therapy consultation, medication education, and proactive patient outreach. Counsel patients on medications, adherence, chronic disease management, and preventive care, building lasting relationships with the community you serve.
Participate in clinical team meetings, collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams, and contribute to population health initiatives at the health center. Administer immunizations and support vaccination programs as applicable.
Lead all aspects of day‑to‑day pharmacy operations including workflow management, inventory, patient safety, and quality assurance. Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA, Fraud, Waste & Abuse, and applicable pharmacy practice standards. Maintain compliance with health center facility policies and NuvemRx operational standards. Oversee accurate dispensing, prescription verification, and documentation practices.
Hire, onboard, and manage pharmacy staff, including technicians, fostering a culture of care, accountability, and continuous learning. Identify knowledge gaps and support staff development through coaching, education, and on‑the‑job training.
Set and model the standard for patient‑first service and professional excellence.
Build and maintain a strong partnership with the health center client, acting as the primary pharmacy liaison for clinical staff and administration. Identify opportunities to expand pharmacy services, improve patient outcomes, and grow the pharmacy’s role within the health center. Support NuvemRx’s broader mission by sharing insights, contributing to best practices, and collaborating with the broader pharmacy leadership team.
You’re energized by the idea of building something new; this is a launch role, and you’re excited to shape the culture, processes, and patient experience from day one. You lead by example and take genuine pride in the quality of care your pharmacy delivers. You build strong relationships naturally, with patients, providers, and teammates alike. You’re comfortable being the expert in the room and confident navigating ambiguity with good judgment. You’re drawn to community health and find purpose in serving patient populations that depend on accessible, high‑quality pharmacy care. You’re open to putting down roots in a community like Galena‑ a welcoming, historic town with a strong quality of life and a genuine need for dedicated healthcare professionals.
