Job summary

Barrington James is seeking a Lab Assistant to support the compounding lab in Western Washington, onsite and full-time with a day shift. This entry-point role provides on-site training to become a pharmacy technician, under pharmacist supervision.

You will follow SOPs, assist with weighing, packaging, labeling and prescription fulfillment, and help maintain quality documentation and inventory as you learn the process.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Detail-oriented with ability to follow SOPs exactly.
• WA Pharmacy Assistant registration preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Experience in pharmacy, lab, or manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Follow SOPs and cGMP/USP housekeeping requirements in the lab.
• Clean and sanitize the lab, equipment and work surfaces daily and log cleaning on the appropriate records.
• Prepare, stock and replenish lab supplies, containers, labels and components ahead of each shift.
• Support inventory control of chemicals, APIs and packaging materials, including receiving, rotation and expiry checks.
• Assist with environmental monitoring and quality documentation.
• Support compounding technicians with weighing, measuring and basic preparation tasks under pharmacist supervision, once trained.
• Assist with packaging, labeling and prescription fulfillment.
• Support shipping and receiving, including cold-chain packing where required.
• Other duties as assigned by the lab lead or pharmacist-in-charge

The Lab Assistant supports the compounding technicians and pharmacists in daily lab operations. It's an entry point into compounding for someone detail-oriented who wants to build towards a pharmacy technician career, with training provided on site SOPs.

Location: Western Washington, across Puget Sound from Seattle.

Full Time - Monday-Friday, Day Shift

Job Responsibilities

• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures and cGMP/USP <795> housekeeping requirements in the compounding lab
• Clean and sanitize the lab, equipment and work surfaces daily and log cleaning on the appropriate records
• Prepare, stock and replenish lab supplies, containers, labels and components ahead of each shift
• Support inventory control of chemicals, APIs and packaging materials, including receiving, rotation and expiry checks
• Assist with environmental monitoring and quality documentation
• Support compounding technicians with weighing, measuring and basic preparation tasks under pharmacist supervision, once trained
• Assist with packaging, labeling and prescription fulfillment
• Support shipping and receiving, including cold-chain packing where required
• Other duties as assigned by the lab lead or pharmacist-in-charge

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot defects or labeling errors
• Organized, reliable and comfortable following written procedures exactly
• Prior experience in a pharmacy, lab, food or manufacturing environment is a plus
• WA Pharmacy Assistant registration, or willingness to obtain it, preferred
• Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs
