Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is seeking a Pharmacy Inventory Technician to maintain appropriate medication and supply levels to meet patient needs. You will process orders, manage recalls, and collaborate with clinical staff to ensure safe stock levels.

This role requires PA RPT certification upon hire and a background in pharmacy automation. Applicants should have strong PC and database skills, plus experience in inventory reporting and supplier communications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of experience in inventory management.
• Demonstrates competency in the operation of the pharmacy automation.
• Knowledge of PC use and appropriate database systems.
• Maintains working knowledge of drug changes within the industry.
• RPT - Registered Pharmacy Technician - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates pharmacy department inventory and compiles reports on findings.
• Manages inventory reports and drug recalls.
• Notifies pharmacy managers and clinical staff of drug recalls and expeditiously removes recalled products from stock and appropriate paperwork is completed.
• Communicates backorders in a timely manner to key stakeholders.
• Maintains appropriate medication inventory levels without overstocking or leaving department in short supply.
• Communicates relevant supply issues to the clinical management team during weekly meetings.
• Places orders with wholesalers per department policy.
• Keeps key wholesalers issues in view for Quarterly Business Review.
• Maintains technology databases as assigned.

Summary

Maintains appropriate inventory levels of medications and supplies in order to meet patient needs on a day-to-day basis. Processes orders and requests from other hospital departments so they can effectively operate.

Job Duties

• Coordinates pharmacy department inventory and compiles reports on findings.
• Manages inventory reports and drug recalls.
• Notifies pharmacy managers and clinical staff of drug recalls and expeditiously removes recalled products from stock and appropriate paperwork is completed.
• Communicates backorders in a timely manner to key stakeholders.
• Maintains appropriate medication inventory levels without overstocking or leaving department in short supply.
• Communicates relevant supply issues (shortages, generic availability, etc.) to the clinical management team as soon as they are made aware and during the weekly clinical management meetings.
• Coordinates and initiates the process for removal of outdated inventory.
• Meets with key members of the pharmacy industry in order to keep abreast of drug distribution issues and availabilities.
• Places orders with wholesaler and specialty distrubuters per department policy.
• Identifies key wholesaler issues and communicates them during the Quarterly Business Review.
• Communicates information needed to support pharmacy functions.
• Participates in organizational and departmental QA activities.
• Maintains technology databases (as assigned).

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• 2 years
• Previous experience in inventory management.
• Demonstrates competency in the operation of the pharmacy automation.
• Knowledge of PC use and appropriate database systems.
• Maintains a working knowledge of drug changes within the industry.
• RPT - Registered Pharmacy Technician - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree Business management or accounting.
• 3 years Working as a Pharmacy Technician.

Physical Demands

• Lift and carry 40-50 lbs.
• Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight.
• Frequent to continuous standing/walking.
• Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift.
• Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
