Job summary

UPMC Greene is seeking a motivated Pharmacy Intern to join our hospital pharmacy team, under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.

You will assist with medication distribution, IV admixtures, and drug information, support medication safety, participate in interdisciplinary teams, and help maintain accurate documentation and formulary compliance.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited School of Pharmacy, entering P1 year or higher.
• Must apply for intern license within 90 days of hire.
• Strong communication and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacist with medication distribution and dispensing tasks.
• Fill medication orders and maintain patient profiles.
• Prepare IV admixtures/chemotherapy and controlled substances orders.
• Support medication review and check for drug interactions.
• Complete departmental documentation and billing at end of shift.
• Document clinical workload per procedures.
• Use information systems, robotics, and labeling applications for dispensing.
• Prepare drug information responses and medication use evaluations.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Intern to join our dynamic hospital pharmacy team. This is an excellent opportunity for a pharmacy student to gain hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced, patient-centered environment. Under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, you will assist in delivering high‑quality pharmaceutical care, supporting medication safety, and contributing to interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

Responsibilities:

• Assists the pharmacist with medication distribution, delivering medication, refilling automated dispensing cabinets, and exchanging emergency medication carts.
• Participate in filling of medication orders maintaining patient profiles, performing prepackaging.
• Prepare IV admixtures/chemotherapy and controlled substance orders.
• Assists the pharmacist with medication review, including but not limited to computer order entry, monitoring allergies, enforcing formulary decisions, and evaluating drug interactions.
• Accurately completes departmental documentation and billing by the end of each scheduled shift in accordance with department procedures.
• Where applicable, complete clinical workload documentation (manual or electronic) by the end of each scheduled shift in accordance with Department procedures.
• Effectively uses information systems, robotics, and other applications to prepare medication labels and assist with dispensing medications.
• Prepare drug information responses and medication use evaluations.

Schedule:

7AM-3PM. Primarily weekends during school year, weekdays/holidays as available.

Qualifications:

• Good standing in an accredited School of Pharmacy, entering P1 year or above, and applied for intern license within 90 days of hire.
• The candidate must possess good communication and computer skills.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
• Pennsylvania State Bank of Pharmacy Intern License applied for within 90 days of hire
