Job summary

TriHealth in Cincinnati, OH seeks a Pharmacy Intern who is currently enrolled in an accredited College of Pharmacy to gain hands-on experience in hospital operations. Under supervision, you will support unit-dose distribution and IV admixture activities while learning from licensed pharmacists.

You will assist with data entry, medication preparation, and supply requests in a collaborative clinical setting, while developing professional skills and patient-care concepts for your future pharmacy

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and actively enrolled in an accredited college of pharmacy
• Must be currently enrolled in an Accredited Pharmacy School
• Registered with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Intern
• Up to 1 year of experience in a related field

Responsibilities

• Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, performs technical and clerical duties for hospital-wide unit-dose drug distribution and IV admixture programs.
• Maintains confidential reports and enters/retrieves data in the computer system.
• Prepares IV medications and pre-fills patient cassette drawers with a 24-hour supply of unit-dose meds.
• Procures and fills requests for pharmaceutical supplies and delivers supplies to nursing units.

Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, supervisor, or director of pharmacy services, the Pharmacy Intern performs a wide variety of technical and clerical duties for the hospital-wide unit-dose drug distribution system and intravenous admixture program. Responsibilities include maintaining confidential reports, entering and retrieving data using the computer system, preparing intravenous medications (including chemotherapeutic preparations, hyperalimentations, and antibiotics), pre-filling patient cassette drawers with a 24-hour supply of unit dose medications, procuring and filling requests for pharmaceutical supplies, and delivering supplies to nursing units.
