CommonSpirit Health is seeking a Pharmacy Intern to support medication preparation, distribution, and inventory within a hospital setting. The role emphasizes accuracy, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with licensed pharmacists.

The intern assists with compounding, narcotics control, and clinical/administrative tasks under supervision to advance education and practical experience in the field of pharmacy.

Qualifications

• PharmD degree with didactic and experiential rotations in pharmaceutical care.
• Active pharmacist intern license in good standing; required within 6 months of graduation.
• TN PharmTech or PHRMINTERN license accepted for TN work sites as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Use pharmacy automation to optimize safety and efficiency in drug distribution.
• Compound IV admixtures (sterile and non-sterile) per USP and Board requirements.
• Repackage medication into unit doses following USP regulations.
• Perform specialized narcotic distribution; maintain perpetual inventories and identify discrepancies.
• Manage pharmaceutical and supply inventory; conduct cycle counts and monitor expiration dates.
• Respond to questions from healthcare professionals, patients, families, and caregivers via phone or in person.
• Participate in clinical and administrative functions under pharmacist supervision.
