Job Description Summary

Under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, performs any or all of the functions of the department as assigned according to established procedure. Based on ability, experience, and performance, performs the increasingly judgmental activities of a pharmacist pursuant to State Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations. Under supervision, gains the practical experience necessary to function competently and effectively upon licensure.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma (or GED).
  • Actively enrolled in a College of Pharmacy.
  • Active Ohio Pharmacy Intern License.
  • Actively pursuing licensure as a Registered Pharmacist, meeting academic and/or post‑graduate experience requirements.
  • Registration with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Intern.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • 25% Obtain, prepare, and label pharmacy products according to department policy for final distribution.
  • 15% Under the direction of a registered pharmacist, review and interpret orders for pharmacy products needed for patient care, perform any necessary interventions, and process according to department policy and procedure.
  • 15% Produce billing, monitoring, and usage documentation of pharmacy products for proper billing and inventory purposes.
  • 5% Maintain sufficient inventory of pharmacy products to enable efficient distribution.
  • 10% Provide information via phone or in person to other healthcare professionals and/or customers.
  • 5% Submit medication charge data to assure proper reimbursement.
  • 5% May assist in training technicians, externs, and interns in technical aspects of duties.
  • 5% Participate in special projects when necessary.
