Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle is seeking a Pharmacy Intern enrolled in the University of Washington School of Pharmacy to support sterile compounding, Pyxis refilling, investigational drug services, and dispensing. You will counsel patients and assist in medication preparation and documentation.

Candidates must hold a Pharmacy Intern License, demonstrate strong time management, communication skills, and accuracy in aseptic IV admixture.

• Investigational Drug Services
• Retail Pharmacy Dispensing
• Counseling Patients
• Prepares, packages, and labels medication in an accurate and efficient manner.
• Charging and billing functions
• Operates CII safe and follows all controlled substance procedures
• Filling and documentation of pyxis, emergency/code boxes and code trays
• Monitors stock for expiration dates and removes outdates
• Medication reconciliation
• Delivery of patient specific medications to infusion or other areas of the clinic
• Other pharmacy related duties in accordance with regulations under Washing State Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission

• Accurate and aseptic IV admixture preparation
• Able to perform basic pharmaceutical calculations
• Ability to use a mouse, navigate computer programs, enter data into computer systems accurately and efficiently.
• Familiarity with the generic names of drugs along with the basic indication

Pre Employment Drug Screening

As a condition of employment Fred Hutch conducts pre-employment drug testing for this pharmacy role. All offers of employment in the pharmacy department are conditional on the applicant successfully completing and passing a drug test in accordance with the Fred Hutch policy.
The hourly pay range for this position is from $26.50 to $29.95, which includes the per diem differential, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.
