Job summary

Encompass Health is seeking a Pharmacy Intern to join our inpatient rehabilitation team, contributing to medication management, patient care, and collaborative pharmacy operations at multiple sites.

You will assist with formulary maintenance, inventory, dispensing under supervision, narcotics control, and daily rounds, with opportunities for tuition reimbursement and professional development.

Qualifications

• Must meet state board registration or licensure requirements for the state of employment.
• Graduate of an approved professional degree in pharmacy or pursuing licensure.
• FPGEC certificate holder or eligible for licensure.
• Awaiting examination for licensure or meeting Board requirements are acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain inventory and formulary per drug formulary.
• Order, receive, store and process paperwork for pharmacy.
• Dispense medications using unit-dose system and replace floor stock as needed.
• Monitor narcotics inventory and maintain administration records.
• Enter and verify orders with pharmacist; perform daily rounds for emergency drug boxes.
• Handle protected health information in accordance with policy.

Realize Your Vision as a New Pharmacist

• Provides inventory control including maintenance in the pharmacy according to the drug formulary.
• Maintains formulary, including ordering, receiving, storage and all necessary paperwork.
• Replaces medication including dispense machine refill (24-hour supply), using unit-dose system.
• Replaces floor stock items on a routine basis according to policy including narcotic inventory.
• Maintains necessary paperwork for the pharmacy's reporting and tracking.
• Reviews pharmacy profiles and collection of drugs dispensed to patients for accurate billing.
• Reconciles narcotic including monitoring of doses administered according to medication.
• Manages Administration Record in the narcotics sign-out file.
• Ensures floor stock (medication and IV's) are maintained at appropriate par levels.
• Ensures emergency boxes are maintained in accordance with pharmacy policy.
• Maintains and completes pharmacy inspection manual.
• Transfers pharmacy charges to the business office.
• Prioritizes orders on basis of drug schedule or necessity, and delivers STAT orders promptly.
• Enters and fills all orders for verification by pharmacist.
• Conducts daily rounds to check emergency drug box and med dispense machines.
• Handles all pharmaceutical generated protected health information.

Qualifications

• Meets State board of pharmacy registration or licensure requirement in the state of employment.
• Enrolled in a professional degree program of a school or college of pharmacy that has been approved by the Board and satisfactorily progressing toward meeting the requirements for licensure as a Pharmacist; OR
• A graduate of an approved professional degree program of a school or college of Pharmacy or a graduate who has established educational equivalency by obtaining a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee™ (FPGEC®) Certificate, who is currently licensed by the Board of Pharmacy for the purpose of obtaining practical experience as a requirement for licensure as a Pharmacist; OR
• Qualified applicant awaiting examination for licensure or meeting Board requirements for re-licensure.
