Job summary

Food City is offering a pharmacy internship for students currently enrolled in an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy. The role emphasizes customer service, data entry, prescription handling, and on-site participation under supervision.

Interns must be 18+, meet eligibility for pharmacy study, and be available for scheduled on-site shifts. The position includes duties from handling prescriptions to assisting with insurance claims and maintaining a clean, organized department.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Currently enrolled in Pharmacy school and meet eligibility requirements.
• Ability to meet standard physical, mental, and visual demands.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine tasks with daily interactions.
• Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts and comply with attendance policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous service to customers at all times.
• Receive and prepare prescriptions following pharmacist guidance.
• Answer telephone and assist questions not requiring a pharmacist’s judgement.
• Enter data into computer and stock OTC products.
• Assist in submitting insurance claims and verify payments.
• Keep the department clean and stocked; operate cash register as needed.

Essential Job Functions:

• Must be enrolled in and completed 1 year of study at an ACPE Accredited College of Pharmacy.
• If allowed by State Regulation, and authorized by the Pharmacist in Charge, receive oral prescriptions from prescribers or prescribers’ authorized designees. (This refers primarily to new telephone prescriptions.)
• Provide and promote efficient and courteous service to customers at all times.
• Answer telephone and handle questions that do not require a pharmacist’s expertise or judgment.
• Receive written prescriptions or telephone refill requests.
• Gather information needed to prepare prescriptions.
• Record information needed before prescriptions can be dispensed.
• Store written prescriptions forms after prescriptions are dispensed.
• Enter data into computer.
• Stock over the counter products.
• Place completed prescriptions in pick-up area.
• Assist in preparing insurance claims and verify payments.
• Maintain a clean department and work area.
• Assist in maintaining and stocking pharmacy department supplies.
• Additional job duties may be assigned as needed.
• Operate cash register.

Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must currently be enrolled in Pharmacy school and meet eligibility requirements.
• Ability to meet standard Physical, Mental, and Visual demands
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks and have constant contact/interaction with various levels of individuals on a daily basis
• Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts to adhere to company time and attendance policies
