Job summary

Senior Care Pharmacy is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to support packaging, labeling and delivery preparation under a pharmacist's supervision. The candidate should have a High School Diploma, valid Pharmacy Technician registration, and at least 1 year of related experience; IV experience is a plus.

Flexibility for evenings and weekends is required. Strong attention to detail and good communication are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist with packaging, labeling and preparation for delivery of medications under pharmacist supervision.
  • Maintain inventory and assist with environmental controls per regulations.
  • Label prescriptions accurately with cautionary and auxiliary labels.
  • Process medications returned for credit or destruction.
  • Prepare medications for delivery to customers.
  • Support compliance with HIPAA and safety policies.
  • Provide great customer service to internal and external customers.

JOB DETAILS

To perform functions related to the packaging, labeling and preparation for delivery of medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist according to state and federal regulations/guideline and customer requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent
  2. Valid Pharmacy Technician registration/certification (compliant with state regulations)
  3. One year as a Pharmacy Technician or related experience, preferred
  4. IV experience, preferred
  5. Must be able to work a flexible shift including evenings and weekends
  6. Attention to detail and be able to work under deadlines
  7. Strong organization skills including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
  8. Strong written and oral communication skills
  9. Basic computer skills preferred; experience with Microsoft Excel and Word
  10. Ability to make independent decisions.
  11. Ability to work and produce results under pressure
  12. Ability to effectively and harmoniously interact with facility, management and other employees at all levels; promotes teamwork and professionalism
  13. Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance
  14. Must be dependable and able to work with minimal supervision

  4. Support, cooperate with, and implement specific procedures and programs for:
  5. Maintaining confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee, and operations data.
  6. Safety and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.
  7. Compliance with all regulatory requirements
  8. Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from harassment, and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.
  9. Support and participate in common teamwork:
  10. Cooperate and work together with all co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment.
  11. Use tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
  12. Follow up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residents regarding reported complaints, problems, and concerns.
  13. Promote positive public relations with residents and family members.
  14. Complete requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.
  15. Provide great customer service to internal and external customers: Promote positive public relations with residents, family members, and guests.
  16. Support Senior Care Pharmacy in a friendly, courteous, and cooperative manner.
  17. Comply with all company policies and procedures regarding HIPAA Privacy and Security.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Performs and/or oversees the completion of all routine and tasks, including but not limited to:
  2. Assists with drug preparation, including but not limited to: packaging of single dose medications, pouring liquids, filling creams, ointments, and /or powders, and preparing injectables.
  3. Assists with maintenance of an adequate inventory of medications and other supplies.
  4. Assists with preparation of emergency kits
  5. Prepares compounds per physician's order under supervision of a pharmacist.
  6. Labels prescriptions accurately, including informational labels, e.g. cautionary and auxiliary labels.
  7. Processes medications returned from the facilities for credit or destruction.
  8. Prepares medication for delivery to customers
  9. Assists in maintenance and documentation of appropriate environmental controls in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  10. Accepts ownership and accountability for the successful completion of assigned functions and achievement of goals.
  11. Strives for compliance by all staff with internal controls and state and federal regulations.
  12. Participates in the development and successful implementation of plan(s) of improvement as indicated, recommended and/or required by Supervisor, Director, or any other corporate or regulatory compliance consultant. Communicates progress toward goals and ongoing obstacles to supervisor and company management team, verbally and/or in writing or as dictated.
  13. Provides training to other staff that is necessary to successful job performance, consistent with company standards and expectations, and facilitates cross-functional awareness and proficiencies.
