Job summary

Encompass Health is seeking a Pharmacy Director to lead our hospital pharmacy services, ensuring safe and efficient provision of medications and directing a team with advanced equipment and technology. This role emphasizes patient care, staff leadership, and budget oversight within a post-acute care setting.

The ideal candidate will hold a US-licensed pharmacy degree, have at least two years of supervisory experience, and stay current with clinical pharmacy practices and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy degree from a US-accredited program or an international program evaluated as substantially equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Convey the mission of the hospital and organization to pharmacy staff, holding them accountable for performance while motivating them to enhance and develop their capabilities.
• Oversee the pharmacy department's operations, including scheduling, continuous assessment, and the implementation of process improvements to optimize department performance.
• Provide direct patient and pharmaceutical care.
• Demonstrate and maintain competence in clinical health system pharmacy practices, including antimicrobial stewardship, drug preparation, controlled substances, hospital accreditation, anticoagulation management, and medication safety.
• Educate staff on pharmaceutical care and medication management, ensuring compliance with local, state, and national regulations.
• Stay current with new medications and evidence-based medicine; collaborate with the Controller to manage budgeting for staffing, drugs, and supplies.
• Serve and lead hospital committees such as Quality Assurance, Formulary, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, MEC, and Safety.

License Or Certification

• Licensed in good standing by the State Pharmacy Board for the State in which the hospital is located.
