Job summary

PetVet Care Centers’ Hagyard Pharmacy in Lexington, Kentucky, is seeking a Pharmacy Associate to join our team. You will assist the Pharmacy Manager and Pharmacist in Charge, handling prescriptions, customer inquiries, inventory, and daily clerical tasks in a fast-paced, team-oriented equine pharmacy environment.

Position involves assisting with shipping/receiving, labeling medications, and maintaining records using computer systems; previous pharmacy exposure is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED. One year of pharmacy experience preferred; experience with computer systems preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures. Ability to write/document technical information and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from doctors, staff and clients.
  • General computer skills and keyboarding ability.

Responsibilities

  • Accepts prescriptions for filling, gathering and processing necessary information.
  • Answers telephone inquiries, referring callers to pharmacist when necessary.
  • Greets customers and help them with placing orders.
  • Unpacks, sorts, counts and labels incoming merchandise, including items requiring special handling or refrigeration.
  • Receives, stores and inventories pharmaceutical supplies, notifying Pharmacist when levels are low.
  • Operates invoicing system to process cash and credit card sales.
  • Restocks storage areas, replenishing items on shelves.
  • Performs clerical tasks such as filing.
  • Maintains and cleans equipment, work areas and shelves.
  • Provides customers with information about the uses and effects of medications.

Position Overview

Hagyard Pharmacy in Lexington, Kentucky, is a specialized equine pharmacy supporting veterinarians and horse owners with high-quality medications and expert service in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Join our team as a Pharmacy Associate who assists the Pharmacy Manager and Pharmacist in Charge by performing following duties.

Essential Responsibilities and Functions include the following, however other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, maintains and keeps record of records of inventory, receipts, purchases and deliveries, using a variety of computer programs.
  • Answers queries on supply and availability of medicines within their knowledge base.
  • Receives, loads, and unloads incoming goods from wholesalers, manufacturers and
  • Pre-packs, assembles and labels medications.
  • Responds to telephone and face to face inquiries of a routine nature from clients, their representatives, staff, and Veterinarians. Refer queries to the relevant member of the pharmacy team when necessary.

Essential Functions

  • Assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision.
  • Performs clerical and administrative duties.
  • Assists with shipping and receiving of medications.
  • Holds confidential all records concerning patients' and Veterinarians’ medication profile.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.

  • Education/Experience:

  • Math Ability:
    • Ability to apply simple math formulas.
  • Reasoning Ability:
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills:
    • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have general computer software knowledge and keyboarding skills.
  • Certificates and Licenses:
    • None required

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to sit, walk, and stand for long periods of time.
  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers.
  • Must be able to sit/stand in front of a computer for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to physically operate the equipment used for the job.
  • Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus.

Schedule: Monday through Friday with rotating Saturdays.

Pay Range

$16 — $16 USD
