Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health in Boston is seeking an Ambulatory Retail Pharmacy Supervisor to oversee daily operations, ensure safe dispensing, and drive prescription growth within the retail/outpatient setting.

The role requires Massachusetts pharmacist licensure, 3–5 years of related experience with 1–3 years in supervision, and strong inventory and insurance knowledge. You will lead a team of pharmacists and staff, manage budgets, and participate in quality initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Doctoral degree in Pharmacy preferred.

• Understanding of insurance adjudication processes.
• Working knowledge of inventory processes.

Responsibilities

• Assists with planning, directing, supervising and monitoring of pharmacy operations within the retail/outpatient pharmacy. Serves as liaison between pharmacy operations and other clinical departments.
• Focuses on ensuring continuous prescription growth.
• Provides direction and support to staff to ensure departmental effectiveness and efficiency.
• Assists with oversight of inventory control system when needed to ensure the department remains adequately stocked and is responsive to dramatic fluctuation in the use of pharmaceuticals. Resolves problems or questions surrounding orders, shipping and/or billing.
• Performs the role of a staff pharmacist, as needed.
• Has the authority to direct and support employees daily work activities. Has the direct responsibility to undertake hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews. Supervision of 15+ direct and indirect reports.
• Assists in planning, monitoring and/or managing budget in functional area of department when needed.
• Participates up to 10% of their time as a member of various Quality Management Committees to provide quality management oversight to the pharmacy operations and client satisfaction. Fulfills the duty of the "Senior Clinical Person" with respect to accreditation.
• Assumes the role of the Pharmacist in Charge in their absence.

The Ambulatory Retail Pharmacy Supervisor is responsible for supporting the overall management and operation of the retail pharmacy. Ensures the correct medications are dispensed to the correct patients in an efficient and safe manner as promised. Medication compliance monitoring, chronic disease state management, patient consultation, bedside delivery of medication, provider communications and inventory management are a part of daily tasks. This position is a part of the interdisciplinary team that includes clinical pharmacists, technicians and other ancillary staff.

Pay Range:

$145,600.00 USD - $184,656.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
