Job summary

UnityPoint Health, a respected regional health system in Iowa, seeks a Retail Pharmacist for part-time hours. The role focuses on patient counseling, safe dispensing, MTM support, and immunizations, with shifts aligned to 7:30a-6p Monday–Friday and rotating weekend coverage.

Licensed pharmacists in Iowa will join a team dedicated to high-quality patient care and operational excellence. The position emphasizes collaboration with physicians and care teams.

Qualifications

• RPh or PharmD degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
• Valid license to practice pharmacy within the state of Iowa.
• Valid driver's license when driving for work-related reasons.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend and speak fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Process, fill, verify, and dispense medications with accuracy and safety.
• Provide clear, compassionate counseling to patients on medication use.
• Offer prescription clarification and recommendations to patients and providers.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy and outcomes.
• Support MTM services and related clinical initiatives.
• Administer immunizations per protocol.
• Contribute to day-to-day pharmacy operations and patient experience.
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Overview

Provides services including but are not limited to assessing patient needs, incorporating age and disease specific characteristics into drug therapy and patient education, adjusting care according to patient response, and providing clinical interventions to detect, mitigate, and prevent medication adverse events. Works directly with physicians, other health professionals and patients to provide all aspects of patient care, including clinical and distributive tasks, for patients served within our health system. Helps patients and healthcare professionals achieve clinical outcomes and monitor progress toward common goals. Supervises other pharmacy staff in the absence of formal departmental leadership. Performs assignments and projects as directed by the Pharmacy Leadership Team.
