Job summary

Avera Grassland Campus is seeking a Pharmacist (PRN) to ensure safe, effective medication use across patient populations. You will interpret orders, advise clinicians, monitor regimens, educate patients, supervise pharmacy technicians, and participate in quality improvement and clinical activities across the hospital.

Requires active Pharmacist license in state of practice and ability to work Day Shift. This role supports care teams with regulatory compliance and ongoing education to advance

Responsibilities

• Interprets, processes, and monitors medication orders for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness.
• Provides medication information on proper usage, effects, and adverse effects; performs inventory control and ensures timely patient access to medications.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable laws and policies to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies for safe medication delivery.
• Supervises Pharmacy Technicians in unit dosage, intravenous admixture, and prescription preparation/distribution.
• Mentors students, interns, technicians, and others with career development.
• Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and promotes patient safety.
• Recommends changes within the department and facility to improve quality of care and services.
• Assists in drug use reviews, patient care audits, and reporting of adverse medication reactions.
• Performs activities related to clinical pharmacy such as kinetics, MTM, medication information, and educational programs.
• Monitors medication therapy through regular analysis and collaboration with clinicians for continuum of care.

What You Will Do

• Interprets, processes, and monitors medication orders issued by providers for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness.
• Provides medication information on the proper usage, desired effects and potential adverse effects and performs inventory control measures during medication distribution and administration providing patients optimal medication resources in a timely manner.
• Maintains a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, Code of Ethics, and policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies for safe medication delivery.
• Supervises Pharmacy Technicians in unit dosage, intravenous admixture and prescription preparation/distribution.
• Mentors students, interns, technicians, and others with developing career plans or professional development.
• Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and promotes patient safety.
• Recommends changes within the department and facility to improve quality of care and services.
• Assists in drug use reviews, patient care audits, and detecting and reporting of adverse medication reactions to ensure our patients receive quality healthcare.
• Performs functions related to clinical activities such as kinetics, medication therapy monitoring, medication information, and educational programs.
• Monitors medication therapy including routine analysis of patient’s medication therapy, medical problems, laboratory data, and special procedures, as well as correlating these analyses with other clinicians responsible for the patient’s care to provide a continuum of care throughout the hospital system.
