Job summary

UAB St. Vincent's Pharmacy is seeking a licensed pharmacist to join our team on a PRN, rotating schedule at UAB St Vincent's Birmingham. The role emphasizes accurate dispensing, medication order review, and patient education under the Alabama Board of Pharmacy rules.

Responsibilities include communicating with clinicians, providing drug information, supervising technicians, and supporting academic activities as needed. A PharmD or bachelor's degree in Pharmacy and licensure in AL are required.

Qualifications

• Currently licensed as a Pharmacist by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP).
• Bachelor's or Doctor of Pharmacy degree required for the role.

• Compound and dispense medications for accurate patient delivery.

Position Overview

• Department: Pharmacy
• Schedule: PRN, Rotating
• Work Location: UAB St Vincent's Birmingham

What You Will Do

Assure the appropriate selection, dosing, administering, and dispensing of medication orders.

• Review and assess medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential and actual drug related problems. Recommend formulary alternatives when appropriate.
• Compoundsand dispense medications for accurate delivery to patients.
• Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients.
• Communicate with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care.
• Oversee technical personnel who assist in the preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of medications and supplies. Assist with academic functions such as serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students. May float to provide coverage of pharmacy needs.
• Provide patient counseling efficiently and effectively when required.

What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Currently licensed as a Licensed Pharmacist by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP) required

Education:

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy required.
