Job summary

New York State Office of Mental Health seeks a Pharmacist to provide pharmaceutical care in inpatient and outpatient settings, reviewing, dispensing and monitoring medications while preparing IV admixtures. You will share drug information, counsel patients and families, supervise pharmacy aides, and participate in performance improvement activities to ensure safe, effective care.

Applicants must hold a NY license and current registration.

Qualifications

• Licensed and registered to practice pharmacy in New York State.
• Eligible for Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (HELPS) program or reachable on the current Pharmacist eligible list.
• Within State service, one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a transferable title may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide pharmaceutical care including review, dispensing and monitoring of inpatient and outpatient medications.
• Prepare IV admixtures.
• Provide drug information to patients and staff.
• Conduct patient and family medication counseling sessions.
• Supervise pharmacy aides.
• Participate in facility-wide performance improvement activities.
