Qualifications

  • Bachelor's level degree in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited Pharmacy College.
  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacy license in the state.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets prescriptions, checks for drug interactions and allergies, enters data into the system and supervises Technicians.
  • Conveys information on how and for how long medication should be taken and consults with other health care professionals as needed.
  • Review inventory daily, place orders, maintain adequate supplies, and ensure proper billing in compliance with plans and regulations.
  • Maintain current state pharmacy license and comply with all company procedures and laws.
  • Develop professional relationships with patients and coworkers and adhere to security and loss prevention procedures.

We are looking for an efficient, flexible, and highly motivated Staff Pharmacist to join our team part-time at our closed door Medicap Pharmacy facility in Iowa City, IA!

Under indirect supervision, provides full range of patient services by filling prescriptions, supervising Pharmacy Technicians, and providing professional services. Assures that all services comply with professional standards and applicable laws.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Interprets written prescriptions, checks for drug interactions and allergies, enters prescription and patient data into computer system, and gives prescription information to Pharmacy Technician for filling. Supervises Technicians, checks all work for accuracy.
  • Conveys pertinent information regarding how and for how long the medication should be taken. Consults with other health care professionals and conducts research as necessary to ensure that all services are in the best interests of the patient and conform to established professional standards and applicable state laws.
  • Review inventory daily. Places orders for medications, as necessary. Maintains adequate supplies without overstocking.
  • Ensure proper billing occurs when pharmacist on duty in compliance with insurance plan, CMS, and/or board of pharmacy.
  • Maintains current state pharmacy license.
  • Maintains store competitiveness and profitability by controlling operational expenses and maximizing sales.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance. Develops courteous and professional relationships with patients, customers, and co-workers.
  • Comply with all security/loss prevention procedures including setting alarm, securing safe, etc.
  • Maintain a perpetual schedule II inventory
  • Complete third-party rejections
  • Maintain daily and weekly reports
  • In cases of dispensing incidents, follow company procedures: notification and report completed
  • Ensure compliance with all company procedures and federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum Bachelor's level degree in Pharmacy OR PharmD from accredited Pharmacy College.
  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacy license in the state.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
