Job summary

100 LCMC Health seeks a Pharmacist Lead to supervise the daily workflow of the hospital pharmacy department. This role ensures efficient operations, staffing, and services across patient care areas and outpatient clinics. The Pharmacist Lead coordinates with operations and clinical managers to implement new procedures and maintain regulatory compliance.

The position requires a U.S. accredited pharmacy degree with Louisiana licensure, and preferred hospital pharmacy experience.

Qualifications

• Degree from a U.S. accredited school of pharmacy.
• Licensed pharmacist in Louisiana.
• Hospital pharmacy experience preferred: 2 years.
• Strong supervisory and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily workflow of the pharmacy department.
• Schedule, manage time, and coordinate attendance for pharmacists, technicians, and interns.
• Serve as on-call designee for pharmacy operations.
• Assist in interviewing, hiring and staff evaluations.
• Plan and troubleshoot processes to improve basic operations.
• Oversee order verification/entry, IV compounding, and review of controlled substance reports.
• Implement new procedures for operational staff as developed by leadership.

Your job is more than a job. The Pharmacist Lead provides immediate supervision of the daily workflow of the pharmacy department, assists with operational functioning of the department and staffing, and provides the needed services to meet the needs of patient care areas, ancillary departments serviced by pharmacy within the hospital and outpatient clinics.

GENERAL DUTIES

• Supervisory: Works online providing supervision and monitoring of daily operational activities within the pharmacy department.
• Responsible for scheduling, time management, and attendance for pharmacists, technicians, and interns.
• Serves as the on‑call designee for pharmacy operations.
• Assists in interviewing, hiring operational pharmacy staff, and performing staff evaluations.
• Assist in the planning, coordinating, and troubleshooting activities designed to improve processes comprising basic operations.
• Assists in daily operational duties including order verification/entry, intravenous compounding, checking technician's work, issuing narcotics, and reviewing controlled drug reports to ensure smooth running of pharmacy.
• Responsible for implementation of new procedures for operational staff as developed by Operations and Clinical Managers.

EDUCATION / COMPETENCIES

• Provides ongoing professional staff development via meetings and in‑services.
• Responsible for orientation, education of all newly hired pharmacists and technicians.
• Oversees regulatory compliance, ensures all staff pharmacists, technicians, and students comply with institutional or hospital policies.
• Maintains accurate and complete records of all competencies.

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT

• Assists leaders in investigating incident reports.
• Assists the Controlled Substance Pharmacist in reviewing controlled substance discrepancies.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Preferred: 2 years of hospital pharmacy experience.
• Required: Degree from a U.S. accredited school of pharmacy.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Certification Name: Pharmacist (required). Issuer: Louisiana Board of Pharmacy.

WORK SHIFT

• Variable hours (United States of America).
