Job summary

Responsibilities include dispensing under supervision, reviewing orders, counseling patients and families, managing medication distribution, and ensuring compliance with Joint Commission standards and state/federal laws.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited School of Pharmacy Program.
• Active Pharmacist Intern License.
• Must have experience overseeing medication needs for patients and knowledge of age-specific dosing.
• Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards, OSHA regulations, and state and federal laws.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Pharmacy to perform pharmaceutical distribution and preparations safely and in compliance with regulations.
• Procure and dispense medications under supervision via automatic dispensing machines or cabinets.
• Review dispensing machine reports and troubleshoot as needed.
• Communicate with physicians, nurses, and staff with professional judgment.
• Review patient orders and document information in the pharmacy system under supervision.
• Monitor for drug interactions and adverse reactions in coordination with the pharmacist.
• Provide counseling and educational materials to patients and families.
