Medix is partnering with a large health system to hire a Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) for a hospital in Great Falls, MT. The assignment is 13+ weeks, with a Monday–Friday daytime schedule and a potential extension or permanent hire.

The ideal candidate has inpatient experience and Montana licensure, with leadership and regulatory oversight responsibilities on the horizon.

Medix is partnering with a large client, one of the nation's leading health system specialty pharmacy providers, to hire a Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) for a hospital in Great Falls, Montana.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced pharmacist looking to step into a Pharmacy role while helping stabilize operations during a leadership transition. The ideal candidate will have strong inpatient pharmacy experience and leadership skills, but candidates with an active Montana Pharmacist license who are interested in an interim leadership opportunity are encouraged to apply.

About the Facility

• 45-bed hospital
• Average daily census: 25-30 patients
• Busy Emergency Department
• Surgical Hospital
• Hospital Outpatient Department (HOPD)
• Infusion Center

Position Details

• Assignment Length: 13+ weeks (expected 3-4+ months)
• Potential for Extension or Permanent Hire if interested after contract
• Schedule: Monday-Friday
• Hours: Approximately 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (40 hours/week)
• No regular on-call expected but being open to on call is a PLUS +

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) for regulatory compliance
• Provide leadership and operational oversight of the pharmacy department
• Support and mentor pharmacy staff
• Balance administrative responsibilities with staffing as a Clinical Pharmacist
• Verify medication orders and oversee daily pharmacy operations
• Manage Omnicell medication automation systems
• Assist with medication distribution and pharmacy workflow
• Support sterile compounding activities as needed
• Prepare the department for upcoming DNV accreditation surveys
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and hospital leadership to ensure safe, effective patient care

Department Overview

• You'll oversee pharmacy services across:
• Hospital Pharmacy
• Outpatient Clinic
• Hospital Outpatient Department (HOPD)
• Infusion Center

Current staffing includes:

• 6 Pharmacists
• 4 Pharmacy Technicians
• Infusion Center with an additional 3 Pharmacists and 3 Pharmacy Technicians

Required Qualifications

• Active Montana Pharmacist License
• Previous hospital or inpatient pharmacy experience
• Ability to serve as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC)
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Sterile compounding experience or willingness to perform sterile compounding

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Pharmacy Leadership experience is a PLUS +
• Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) experience amazing to have
• Experience with Meditech (training available)
• Omnicell/TouchPoint automation experience
• Experience preparing for regulatory surveys (DNV, Joint Commission, etc.)
