Job summary

PharMerica in Reno, NV is hiring a Pharmacist In Charge for a full-time, non-retail role in a closed-door pharmacy serving long-term care and senior living clients. You will supervise staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive efficient daily operations in a team-focused setting.

Required: active NV license, strong knowledge of federal and state pharmacy laws, and experience in long-term care. PharmD is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy (BPharm) or equivalent.
  • Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in the practice state.
  • Demonstrated pharmacy experience in long-term care or similar setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state regulations for pharmacy operations.
  • Proficiency with pharmacy management systems and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal laws and standards.
  • Supervise and direct pharmacy staff in scheduling, purchasing, and clinical tasks.
  • Collaborate with management to optimize daily operations and cost controls.
  • Provide clinical support and guidance to staff and regional teams.
  • Document communications with healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers in the system.

As a Pharmacist In Charge you will:
  • Ensure full compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Supervise and direct pharmacy staff in key operational areas including scheduling, purchasing, and clinical responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy management to implement efficient daily operations and quality improvement or cost containment strategies.
  • Provide clinical and technical support to pharmacy and regional staff, fostering a team-based care model.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to pharmaceutical inquiries from customers and internal staff, interpreting clinical needs and providing expert advice.
  • Maintain comprehensive patient records, including medical history, lab data, and concurrent medications (including OTC and alternative therapies).
  • Accurately document all communications with healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers in the pharmacy system.
  • Secure and maintain necessary documentation to ensure compliance with federal/state regulations and corporate policies.
  • Enforce safe practices for the procurement, storage, distribution, and disposal of medications and biological products.
  • Document all communications and clinical interventions in the patient’s medical record, including interactions with families and caregivers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the pharmacy team and patient care goals.
Qualifications

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy (BPharm or equivalent)
  • Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of practice
  • Demonstrated pharmacy experience
  • In-depth knowledge of pharmacy laws and both federal and state regulations related to long-term care
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical care practices for long-term care residents
  • Proficiency in computer use, including pharmacy management systems

Desired:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
  • Experience in long-term care pharmacy settings
