Job summary

Billings Clinic is seeking an Infusion Center Pharmacist to support the Cancer Center. The role involves delivering high quality pharmaceutical services under supervision, supporting infusion therapies, and ensuring safe medication use in a busy clinical setting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Participates in day-to-day clinical patient care as appropriate for practice area.

• Prepares sterile (e.g., IV admixtures) and non-sterile products under supervision.
• Controls the distribution of controlled substances and dangerous drugs as required by regulations.
• Trains and supervises pharmacy staff and learners; documents clinical pharmacy work.

Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours every two weeks (Exempt)

Starting Wage DOE: $54.83 - 71.96

The incumbent in this position is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and delivery of high quality pharmaceutical services. Work of the graduate pharmacist is conducted under the review and supervision of the registered pharmacist.

Essential Job Functions

• Clinical Pharmacist I Participates in day-to-day clinical patient care as appropriate for practice area Reviews and interprets provider orders to ensure appropriate medication use. Contacts provider to clarify any questionable order. Carefully checks all data entry, medication carts, and ADM fills for accuracy as appropriate. Accurately and safely, prepares or supervises the preparation of all sterile (e.g., IV admixtures) and non-sterile products. Controls the distribution of controlled substances, dangerous drugs, and investigational drugs as required by state and federal regulations. Assists in the training and orientation of new employees, students, and residents. Provides assistance, direction, and clinical supervision of the pharmacy technical staff as appropriate for practice area. Document in the medical record (and other applications) and is accountable for all clinical pharmacy work including: Monitoring drugs, disease states, and clinical pathways and interacts with providers to optimize drug therapy; writes consults in progress notes Recommends therapeutic alternatives to providers to increase therapeutic efficiency and reduce cost Document consults in designated patient chart or medical record Acts as a drug information resource to medical staff, other professionals, patients, and their families.
• Clinical Pharmacist II All job functions stated in the above clinical pharmacist I Participates as needed in clinical programs and/or functions as a clinical pharmacist Responsible for training learners (pharmacy residents and students) as the primary preceptor Education, counseling, and in-servicing are a large part of the position duties.
• Clinical Pharmacist Specialists All job functions stated in the above clinical pharmacist I and II Gives formal presentations and written communication to pharmacy, nursing, and medical staff on current and relevant clinical pharmacy topics in their area of expertise. With minimal assistance of pharmacy leadership, directs development, implementation, and maintenance of clinical pharmacy services in specialty area (e.g., medication safety initiatives, protocol development, formulary changes, and alternative medications in response to changes, changes in response to new regulations.) Identifies and implements quality, service, revenue, and expense process improvement initiatives. Participates in institutional and community efforts to promote public health and the pharmacy profession. Night Pharmacists who independently work more than 80% of their FTE shifts during the overnight hours would qualify for the Specialist position.
