Job summary

Avera Health in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking a licensed pharmacist to oversee hospital pharmacy services. The role involves interpreting physicians’ orders, providing drug information, and supporting discharge planning in a dynamic hospital setting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, organizing, directing, executing, and evaluating all aspects of hospital pharmacy services.

• Participate in discharge planning and provide non-distributive services such as drug-level monitoring as defined by policy.
• In the absence of the Team Leader, supervise pharmacy personnel to ensure efficient workflow and a positive work environment.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Position Highlights

Work Schedule: Flexible schedule to cover all shifts and weekend activities with on-call participation.

Work Environment: May be exposed to communicable diseases when working in a healthcare environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Education/Experience: Minimum of Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy. Minimum of 1 year of hospital Pharmacy experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Current pharmacist’s license issued by the State South Dakota Board of Pharmacy.
