Job summary

Oyate Health Center in Rapid City, SD is seeking a Full Time Pharmacist to compound and dispense medications and vaccines, providing the highest quality pharmaceutical care to patients.

The ideal candidate holds a Doctor of Pharmacy or a Bachelor of Pharmacy with 2 years of clinical experience, and active US licensure. Must have BLS certification, pass background checks, and comply with HIPAA and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an approved school of pharmacy, or a bachelors degree in Pharmacy with 2 years of clinical experience.
  • Current unrestricted licensure to practice pharmacy in by are any US States or Territory.
  • Current BLS certification for health care providers.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal and background check and a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews prescriptions issued by Physician, or other authorized prescriber to assure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed.
  • Compounds medications, using standard formulas and processes.
  • Screen, process and dispense prescriptions: monitor lab data, drug interactions, drug duplication, therapeutic outcomes, and compliance.
  • Directs pharmacy employees engaged in preparing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
  • Responsible for coordination and oversight of assigned disease management clinic and/or specialty care area, including coordination, facilitation, education, patient care, testing, assessment, protocol review, maintenance, monitoring and reporting as assigned.
  • Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
  • Enters data such as patient name, prescribed medication, and cost, to maintain pharmacy files, charge system, and inventory.
  • May arrange schedules for the arrival of students and ensures proper paperwork and training has been completed.
  • Mentor students on chart review, medication/case management presentations, and counseling techniques.
  • Instructs interns and other medical personnel on matters pertaining to pharmacy.
  • Serves on OHC Committees, Teams, and workgroups as assigned
  • Performs/completes all other duties and projects as assigned by a pharmacy supervisor.
  • Maintains current knowledge of and complies with federal, state, and local regulations affecting areas o responsibility.
  • Maintain effective, collaborative interdepartmental and external relations.
  • Must comply with federal laws and regulations as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Performs the core responsibilities of the position accurately, timely, and in accordance with established standards.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance consistent with the positions schedule and operational needs.
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders as required by the role.
  • Adheres to all applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilizes required systems, tools, and technology necessary to perform the job.

Salary Range: $122,434.00 To $152,231.00 Annually

This position is responsible for compounding and dispensing prescribed medications, vaccines, and other

pharmaceuticals to provide the highest quality pharmaceutical care to Oyate Health Center (OHC) patients.

Essential Functions and Professional Behavior Expectations:

  • Requires manual dexterity and fine motor skills for medication handling and computer use
  • Requires repetitive hand movements for data entry and dispensing activities
  • Requires visual acuity, hearing, and clear verbal communication for accurate medication verification and patient counseling
  • Ability to work in a pharmacy/clinical environment with exposure to medications and potential health risks, following all safety and PPE protocols
