Job summary

Weis Markets in Lebanon, PA is seeking a licensed pharmacist to lead the pharmacy department and ensure the accuracy of prescriptions. The role includes supervising technicians, coordinating with physicians, and maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.

The pharmacist will drive clinical programs such as immunization services and MTM where available, manage inventories to meet customer demand, and provide excellent customer service and healthcare counseling.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) or Doctoral degree (PHARM.D.) in Pharmacy, with Immunization Certification.
  • Proven ability to supervise and train pharmacy staff.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions filled by performing Drug Utilization Review and Final Quality Assurance as required by state and federal regulations.
  • Promote clinical programs including immunization and MTM to grow business and script volume.
  • Align department objectives with key performance metrics, manage inventories, and coordinate with the pharmacy manager to meet customer demand and maximize profits.
  • Provide excellent customer service and healthcare counseling to customers.
  • Supervise Pharmacy Technicians and support staff, train and coach associates, and assist the Pharmacy Manager when needed.
  • Assume management responsibility in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager; maintain open communication with operations and pharmacy management.
  • Maintain department security and comply with all applicable laws and regulations; address customer issues to build trust.
  • Interact with physicians and use references to resolve issues and gather information on prescriptions.
  • Assist with training and development of department personnel to improve performance and reduce turnover.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions filled by completing Drug Utilization Review and Final Quality Assurance, applicable to state and federal Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Build profitable business and script growth through recommended clinical programs including appropriate immunization and when available MTM (Medication Therapy Management) and all ongoing other programs as identified.
  • Responsible to align performance objectives to the 7 key department metrics that are measurable for effectiveness and efficiencies within your control of the Department. Works with the pharmacy manager on controlling inventories by helping track weekly sales, may order various pharmaceutical stock in order to meet customer demand and maximize profits.
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with medical-related issues and providing healthcare counseling.
  • Supervise the work completed by Pharmacy Technicians and support staff while on duty. Assist Pharmacy Manager to train, coach, and manage Pharmacy associates.
  • Assume management responsibility over the entire pharmacy in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Demonstrates open communication with operations and pharmacy management to ensure the success of our pharmacy is upheld.
  • Maintain appropriate security of the Pharmacy department.
  • Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Handle and resolve customer issues, complaints and questions to build customer trust and loyalty.
  • Interact with physicians and utilize reference material to gain information on customers and prescriptions and to resolve any issues that arise.
  • Assist with maintaining the Pharmacy department by keeping it clean and in order. Assists manager with the ongoing training and development of department personnel to improve performance, ensure continuous development, reduce turnover and control labor costs.
  • Prioritize Pharmacy Department tasks and follow through to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner. Including, but not limited, to cycle counts, inventory management and will-calls to customers.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position includes the supervision of pharmacy technicians and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Weis Markets policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, directing, rewarding, and disciplining associates; appraising associate performance; and resolving complaints.

Qualifications and Requirements

To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS), Doctoral degree (PHARM.D.), or equivalent in Pharmacy, and Immunization Certification through an accredited organization (i.e., APhA).
