Job summary

Trilogy is seeking a licensed pharmacist to join our long-term care team. You will oversee medication preparation, verify orders, and ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.

Responsibilities include dispensing, record maintenance, drug interaction screening, and counseling healthcare professionals and patients. A strong ACPE-accredited degree and licensure are required, with at least five years of pharmacy experience in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy degree from ACPE-accredited program (B.S. or Pharm.D.).
• Active North Carolina pharmacist license or able to obtain license where required.
• Minimum 5 years of pharmacy experience; long-term care or healthcare setting preferred.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Review physician orders to prepare medications and mix ingredients.
• Dispense medications according to policies and legal requirements.
• Maintain patient profiles, pharmacy records, and inventories.
• Monitor for drug interactions and allergies using computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and assists the Pharmacy team in the preparation of medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; weighing, measuring and mixing ingredients; detects therapeutic incompatibilities.
• Dispenses medication by planning, implementing or maintaining procedures for mixing, packaging, or labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements to ensure quality, security and proper disposal.
• Assess the identity, strength or purity of medications.
• Assists in the maintenance of records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files and inventories, narcotics, or controlled drugs.
• Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions.
• Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians’ work flow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries.
• Manages the workflow processes which may include pharmacist verification, labeling/packaging, quality assurance with barcode verification and drug images and delivery with barcode tote checking.
• Utilizes computer systems to screen for drug interactions, therapeutic duplication, drug-disease contradictions, drug allergies, geriatric precautions, drug-food precautions and adult min-max dose checking.
• Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals; counseling patents on drug therapies.
• Develops staff pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical programs; training pharmacy staff, interns, residents and health care professionals.
• Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the State Board of Pharmacy, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Food and Drug Administration by monitoring unit inspections, maintaining records for controlled substances; removing outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory, follows disposal of drugs per drug disposal guidelines.
• Protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelors of Science (B. S.) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

Licenses/Certifications

• North American Pharmacist Licensure Exam (NAPLEX)
• Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Exam (MPJE)
• State-specific license where required

Experience:

• Five (5) years’ experience in a pharmacy environment preferred. Healthcare, senior living industry or long-term care environment preferred.
• Exemplary computer skills that include knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products.
