Job description

General Summary

The Pharmacist is responsible for coordinating the medication use process to assure/assist in a timely, safe, efficient and cost-effective drug delivery system. Pharmacists provide clinical services to optimize the effectiveness of patient s medication therapy and improve patient outcomes. Responsibilities include providing drug information to the patient, and medical or nursing staff. Pharmacists also directly supervise the technical staff in all areas of pharmacy practice.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • B.S. in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D).
  • Ability to effectively communicate with other practitioners as well as patients.
  • Ability to be self-directed, motivated, and capable of supervising support personnel.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong customer service and team orientation.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to establish and maintain friendly and cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to accurately perform multiple tasks simultaneously and meet multiple demands.
  • Ability to construct alternative positive problem resolutions.
  • Flexibility in day-to-day actions and duties.
  • Experience with hospital pharmacy computer systems preferred.
  • Experience with Windows-based computers and software preferred.
  • Experience with current pharmacy technology, including Pyxis, automated compounding devices and robotics preferred.
Required Length and Type of Experience
  • One year of previous experience in institutional pharmacy practice preferred.
  • Knowledge of medication management in the hospital pharmacy practice setting.
Required Licensure or Certification
  • Active license to practice pharmacy in The State of Ohio
Required Physical and Environmental Demands
  • Dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions.
  • Dexterity sufficient to perform medication preparation and compounding functions.
  • Ability to lift materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to perform duties while walking, standing, stooping, bending and lifting.
