Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy is required.
  • Advanced degree preferred or enrollment in advanced degree program.
  • One to three years of experience as a Registered Pharmacist in a hospital preferred.
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training is required for all positions.
  • Valid Pharmacist License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Advanced Practice Pharmacist Certification required for Bridge Clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Compounds, prepares, packages and dispenses drugs according to Federal and State law; supervises Pharmacy Technician and support staff.
  • Keeps informed of new drugs and pharmaceutical developments; serves as a pharmaceutical consultant to medical and nursing staff.
  • Maintains records of drugs, poisons, and controlled substances; estimates needs and orders drugs and chemicals to maintain supply.
  • Reviews proper storage of drugs on nursing stations, pharmacies or outpatient clinics; removes outdated drugs.
  • Bridge shift duties: completes refill authorizations on behalf of clinic providers under Collaborative Practice Agreement.

Summary

Under general direction, compounds, prepares, dispenses and maintains control of drugs and pharmaceutical supplies in the hospital or clinic. Performs related duties as required.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.

  1. Compounds, prepares, packages and dispenses drugs and pharmaceuticals according to Federal and State law requirements; supervises Pharmacy Technician and other support staff on above duties.
  2. Keeps informed of new drugs and pharmaceutical developments; services as a pharmaceutical consultant to medical and nursing staff.
  3. Keeps or supervises records of drugs, poisons, and controlled substances ordered, received, and supply on hand as required by Federal and State laws; estimates needs and orders drugs, pharmaceuticals and chemicals as needed to maintain an adequate supply.
  4. Reviews the proper storage of drugs on nursing stations, pharmacies or outpatient clinics; removes all outdated drugs.
  5. "If performing Bridge shift duties, pharmacist completes refill authorizations on behalf of clinic providers, under Collaborative Practice Agreement."
Pay Range

$112.29/hr

The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization. Alameda Health System also offers eligible positions a generous comprehensive benefits program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Advanced degree preferred or enrollment in advanced degree program.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or related field is required.
  • Minimum Experience: One to three years of experience as a Registered Pharmacist in a hospital preferred.
  • Required Licenses/Certifications: CPI -Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (required for all positions at John George Psychiatric Pavilion; and certain positions in the Emergency Department).
  • Required Licenses/Certifications: Valid Pharmacist License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Advanced Practice Pharmacist Certification (required to be assigned to Bridge Clinic)
