Job Overview
A full-time Mid-Level Associate position within an Intellectual Property practice, available in Washington, D.C., with opportunities in other U.S. offices. This role focuses on pharmaceutical and life sciences patent litigation, representing clients in complex disputes involving biotechnology, medical devices, and pharmaceutical technologies before federal courts and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).
Duties
- Represent clients in pharmaceutical and life sciences patent litigation matters
- Handle Hatch-Waxman litigation and provide strategic dispute counseling
- Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents
- Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, and trial proceedings
- Work closely with technical experts and expert witnesses throughout litigation
- Manage complex patent litigation matters before federal courts and the PTAB
- Collaborate with attorneys and clients on litigation strategy and case development
- Provide high-quality legal counsel and client service throughout the litigation process
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in complex patent litigation involving life sciences, medical devices, or pharmaceutical technologies
- Experience with Hatch-Waxman litigation preferred
- Ability to manage sophisticated litigation matters and work with technical experts
- Strong commitment to client service and legal excellence
Education and Certifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active membership in a U.S. state bar
- Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or a related scientific discipline
- Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), or eligibility to obtain registration, preferred
